Woohoo!

Seems like German politicians realised their mistake about direct connections between paintball and the Winnendon shooting.

Germany backs down from Paintball ban 14th May 09

I’m back. Furious.

Posted in Paintball at 12:50 am by incstint

I haven’t been posting for a very very long time. But one news has shocked me to ‘出山’, or literally come out of the mountain from hiding.

Germany moves to outlaw paintball

Read the above article and you will soon be able to understand why I am furious.

I am relieved and glad that the German government is responding to school shooting by addressing the issue of gun control. However, to ban games that ‘encourages violence’ would help do nothing about the whole problem. As a baller, I am pissed that politicians are messing around with this sports without full knowledge of its implications. Politics is a career, but it is a career that will affect your fellow countrymen based on the decisions you make.

Abstract
This is all about politics. The 11 March 2009 Winnenden School Shooting has struck the German public dearly. A boy of 17, committed mass murder with his father’s gun, killing 16 (including himself).

  • The public wants to see something done to address the issue.
  • The strong gun lobby does not want anything to be done to them.
  • The politician must please the electorate.

Combat games, like paintball and lasertag, are therefore banned to show the government’s determination in preventing school shootings from happening again. This post will address the impacts of the Winnenden shooting on German politics, the gun lobby and the paintball scene within Germany. Read the rest of this entry »

Class outing

Posted in 09S06O, Paintball tagged , at 11:38 am by incstint

Class outings are always so fun.  Watched Painted Skin.  The movie was nice, the romance was touching, the action was there, and I would have like it much more if the movie wasn’t so freaking long.  Zhou Xun was a great choice for the Xiao Wei, given that fox spirits in chinese tales are always beautiful in their human form.

The other time I watched a movie by Zhou Xun was Baober in Love *Warning! Nudity in movie* , where she plays a young girl coping with childhood traumas.  Baober in Love touches on the theme change, more specifically the rapid changes that china is going through.

Going back to Painted Skin, the movie is too draggy for my liking.  I actually took out my handphone thrice to look at the time, wondering what time the movie will end.  Exciting, touching, but a bit too long.

After the movie, the class went to celebrate sheryl’s birthday.  I left to collect my mask from Ming, whom i tried to meet for so many times.  Came back, ate dinner, then stone.  This class seems slow in decision making, and decisions are always made simultaneously by two different grps of ppl – guys and gals.  Anyway, what followed was The Long March from taka to merlion park.  It’s a crazy walk but night walks are fun, even more so with the class.

Went home to examine my mask.  E-vents look damn cool lah.  The lens so easy to take out somemore.  Die, no more money to play paintball anymore.  BMO and SPNS registration ate up my monies, but it’s worth spending on things i enjoy doing.  I need a job.

The way the trailer shows it, I thought it was an e-vents. Haha.
