Jamming
Went back to Orlando.
Started the session with how to save a life. Sucks. The keys arent weighted, so it feels weird to play.
should have gone back to anaki, because they have a digital piano, which is just the right thing to use for how to save a life.
jerk it out was awesome. i think its the only song tt we can play without major screwups, but we must stop stealing each other’s solo parts
man who can’t be moved. surprisingly fc can sing, its a pretty nice song to listen to. but not playing, as we still do not have the ability to do justice to the song yet.
while my guitar gently weeps still need improvement. wj needs to learn his part.
im still waiting for fc to pass my the recording of the song, both last week’s one and today’s one.

Jamming
Went jamming again. This time at Anaki records at chinatown.
The place was not too hard to find, but they people sure are punctual. They don’t open before 11am, and they come exactly on the dot for our booking at 11. The studio is on the third floor, but the thai incense from the thai massage parlour on the second floor stinks the whole stairway. Chow booked the Jam Studio, which supposedly could fit 10 people, but i think with the five of us (nick absent – at church) present it was already getting squeezy.
We started off with How to save a life (the only song i practised although we agreed to try three new songs), which came off surprisingly well during the first run through. Keyboards was lead, so if you ignore the singer, i was the show, although all i play are just three riffs. We took 1 hour to perfect the song (at least near perfect), after which we started discussing how we could personalise the song for our band. Out came the slow chorus, the rock chorus and wj’s miraculous guitar solo somewhere after the rock chorus. every song we do, he must solo, even if the guitar is not an instrument required for the song. can’t blame wj, he’s the only child, and it’s only through his solos that he presents himself and shows his presence.
we eventually did a recording of how to save a life, and im still waiting for fc to send me the file. i just hope we do well if we do attempt to perform.

Jamming
Today’s jamming was finally going somewhere.
Jerk it out is almost perfect for showcase.
Dani California is passable.
Dani is an achievement because we took less than an hour to perfect it even when this was the first time we are playing it as a band.
I got bored playing only the keyboard parts for jerk it out. I have nothing to do during the chorus, and standing there doing nothing sucks. So i became backup vocals during chorus, making myself more useful.
RHCP has no keyboardist, so i would naturally have nothing to play for DC, but i played bass riff. Stole part of the bass guitarist’s job, but my riff different from his, so no repetition, but it still sounds nice at the end.
Feng refuses to go for TT audition, but weijian has signed us up. Must find a way to convince him or else we’ll need another vocalist.

Jamming!
Went jamming at Music Emsemble, which went more successful than the first. As usual, i was on keyboards, jimmy on drum, nic on bass, mel rhythm guitar, wj lead guitar, feng vocals. We are still screwing up “dont look back in anger”, we cant play “this love” cos the vocal cant reach the high notes (i think i can replace the vocals lah! but we need more ppl to share the cost of the studio). But, we did an amazing run of “jerk it out”, which after trying a few times sounded of reasonable standard. Ha, but the first few times we were stealing jimmy’s solo, got him damn pissed.
After the session was a get together dinner with the ri infocomm ppl at BotakJones. Talk cock, sing song, eat food, drink lemon tea.

Classical Music and Life
An amazing presentation by Benjamin Zander, Conductor, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, USA.
The video is 20 minutes long, but it is definitely worth however little time you have.
I clapped in front of my computer, for the first time. Definitely the best TEDTalk of all time.
F.Y.I the piece played by Benjamin is Chopin’s Prelude in Em. Opus 28 No. 4.
